SRINAGAR: Army on Saturday recovered body of one more terrorist near the gunfight site at Brinjal forest area of Vilgam, Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, taking the death toll of terrorists in overnight encounter to four.

Earlier, the Army had recovered bodies of three terrorists killed last night in an encounter-first in the Ramazan conditional ceasefire.

Three terrorists were killed in the woods on Friday night after the soldiers of 15 RR intercepted a group of ultras believed to be infiltrators at Brinjal forest adjacent to Shahnagar Jat Gali, around 7 kilometers away from Tehsil headquarter Vilgam.

“The group of terrorists opened fire upon the forces which were retaliated by the troops triggering off the gunfight,” Army had said.

During the early morning searches, three bodies of the terrorists were recovered along with as many AK-rifles.
Regarding the slain ultras, Army had said that they apparently are foreigners and their identity would be established by police and other agencies.

“From the material carried by them, it seems the group belonged to the Jaish-e-Mohammad terror outfit,” an Army officer said.

Later in the day, body of the fourth terrorist was also recovered during the search operation.

The operation in the dense woods was still going on, at the time of filing this report.
