DC Pulwama for effective mechanism for prevention of poppy cultivation

PULWAMA: Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Ghulam Mohammad Dar, Friday said there is a need for formulation of an effective mechanism for prevention and destruction of bang and poppy cultivation in the district.
The DC was speaking in a meeting to discuss measures required to deal with the problem. The meeting was attended by ADC Pulwama, Tehsildars, block development officers, executive officers of municipal committees and senior officers from district police.
Dar said bang and poppy cultivation pose serious challenges to the society and stressed on collective efforts to deal with it.
He directed the revenue officials for an immediate compilation of list of bang and poppy in order that due action can be taken.
