Situation tense on border, Pak suffers heavy damage in BSF retaliation: IG
Jammu, May 18: In the backdrop of heavy shelling along the International Border in Samba and Jammu districts, BSF Inspector General Jammu Frontier Ram Awtar on Friday said the situation along the border is tense and Pakistan has suffered heavy damage in retaliation by BSF.
"The way they (Pakistan) are targetting, they will get the reply with similar calibre," Mr Awtar here told reporters after wreath laying ceremony of BSF jawan who attained martyrdom in Arnia sector of Jammu.
He said, "Situation along the border is quite tense and the practice of targeting civilians is not new but they are being responded appropriately and heavy damage has also been suffered by Pakistan."
"As harvesting season is almost over, we are expecting some mischief from their side but we are already prepared," said the IG BSF.
"Operation anti-tunnel is also being carried out in Bobiya area and searches are also on. May be to divert the attention, they have engaged us," he added.
There were reports of infiltration and group of five terrorists managed to enter this side via tunnel following which search operation was being launched.
"We are giving strong and befitting reply to cross border firing," he added.
Four civilians have reportedly been killed and 10 others injured across the border in Sialkot sector.
