JAMMU: On the day one of Ramazan Ceasefire in J&K, Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) state unit president Ravinder Raina made a rather interesting appeal, none other to terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) chief, Syed Salahuddin to come back to J&K and join main stream.

Talking to the media persons at Jammu Airport after being sworn in as new state unit president of ruling BJP, Raina also asked young militants from Kashmir to shun weapons and join the mainstream.

He asked Salahuddin to shun gun culture and return home in the state to join the mainstream and contest elections.

“I ask Sallahudin, who is hiding in Pakistan and other countries, to come back to his native land Kashmir and join the mainstream. Take part in democratic set up and contest elections, if he feels that he is leader of Kashmiri people,” said Raina.

He also hit out at the chairman of the United Jehad Council, a conglomerate of terrorist outfits operating in Kashmir, for arming youths in the valley leading to bloodshed and violence.

Mohammed Yusuf Shah, better known as Syed Salahuddin, was declared a specially designated global terrorist by the US Department of State in June last year.

Meanwhile, justifying the ceasefire pact of Union Government during the holy month of Ramazan in Kashmir as desired by the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, the fire-brand Raina, who directly visited Kashmir after being nominated as state president, said, “This is conditional ceasefire and not the unilateral ceasefire.”

“If militants fire a single bullet, security forces will retaliate with double power. I still remember Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to Line of Control (LoC) last year, where he said in Nowshera that India will not fire first bullet, but if first bullet is fired from Pakistan side, then Indian forces will retaliate strongly. This is the same conditional ceasefire in J&K,” he said.

On the ceasefire violations by the Pakistan on the beginning of Ramazan at International Border today, Raina said that Pak will face the action if it violates ceasefire anywhere at IB or LoC and that Indian forces are giving befitting reply.

He thanked all workers and leaders of the BJP for having faith in him. "I will work with honesty, dedication and transparency," he said.
