KAS Mains from July 2

SRINAGAR: Two months after State High Court had quashed the Mains examination of Kashmir Administrative Service (KAS) -2016, the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service on Thursday released the fresh dates for the examination now scheduled to commence from 2nd of July.

The examination to be taken in two sessions- from 10 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm- will culminate on July 26th.

Papers that will be held in forenoon session include General Studies- Paper 1 on 2nd of July, General Studies-Paper 2 on 4th of July, Philosophy- Paper 1 and Psychology –Paper 1 both on 7th July while Paper 1 of Civil Engg, Mechanical Engg and Electrical Engg will be held on 9th July.
Botany- Paper 1 and Chemistry-Paper 1 on 10th July, Public Administration-Paper 1 on 11th July, Agriculture- Paper 1 and AH&VS-Paper 1 on 12th July, Urdu-Paper 1 on 14th July, Anthropology-Paper 1 on 15th July, Zoology-Paper 1 and Physics-Paper 1 on 16th July, Philosophy-Paper 2 and Psychology-Paper 2 on 17th July and Civil Engg-Paper 2, Electrical Engg-Paper 2 and Mechanical Engg-Paper 2, all will be held on 18th July. While Botany-Paper 2 and Chemistry-Paper 2 on 19th July, Public Administration-Paper 2 on 21st July, Agriculture-Paper 2, AH&VS-Paper 2 on 23rd of July, Urdu-Paper 2 on 24th July, Anthropology-Paper 2 on 25th July, Zoology-Paper 2 and Physics-Paper 2 on 26th July.

Similarly the papers which will be conducted during afternoon session include General English on 2nd July, Essay In English on 4th July, Mathematics-Paper 1 and Statistics-Paper 1 on 7th July, Economics-Paper 1 and Law-Paper 1 on 9th July, Geography-Paper 1 on 10th July, Political Science and International Relations-Paper 1 on 11th July, History-Paper 1 and Geology-Paper 1 on 12th July while Paper 1 of Arabic, Dogri, Hindi, Punjabi, English, Kashmiri, Sanskrit and Persian all will be held on 14th July. While Sociology-Paper 1 on 15th July, Commerce and Accountancy-Paper 1 and Management-Paper 1 on 16th July, Mathematics-Paper 2 and Statistics-Paper 2 on 17th July, Economics-Paper2 and Law-Paper 2 on 18th July, Geography-Paper 2 on 19th July, Political Science and International Relations-Paper 2 on 21st July, History-Paper 2, Geology- Paper 2 on 23rd July while Paper 2 of Arabic, Dogri, Hindi, Punjabi, English, Kashmiri, Sanskrit and Persian all will be conducted on 24th July. Sociology-Paper 2 on 25th July, Commerce and Accountancy-Paper 2 and Management-Paper 2 on 26th July.

It may be mentioned here that on this March 13, the State High Court had quashed the ongoing Mains examination of Kashmir Administrative Service (KAS) -2016 and ordered Jammu and Kashmir Public Service to hold the main examination afresh.

A division bench of Justice Janak Raj Kotwal and Justice Sanjeev Kumar had also directed the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission to permit all the candidates who have been shortlisted to participate in the preliminary examination on the basis of their merit determined upon re-evaluation,

The court had also directed that JKPSC to allow 429 candidates to participate who were shortlisted in the first result of the preliminary examination but could not make it to participate in the main examination on the basis of their merit determined in the process of re-evaluation.

“Since the examination in question has been delayed due to litigation, we hope and trust that the appellant would take immediate steps to hold the main examination and complete the whole process culminating into the declaration of the result without any further wastage of time,” the court had said then.

The division bench had passed the order on an appeal filed by the JKPSC on court’s single bench judgment in which JKPSC was directed to permit 429 candidates who the Commission had debarred from appearing in the KAS mains exam 2016 after revising the answer key of the preliminary test.
