DM Poonch takes up issue of Surankote Ground with Army Authorities

Joint inspection ordered

POONCH: The District Magistrate Poonch Mohammad Aijaz Asad today ordered a joint inspection by revenue authorities and defence estates/army authorities to settle the land issue between education department and Romeo Force in Surankote.
The decision was taken after a meeting of concerned officers was convened by the DM to resolve the issue. The meeting was attended by by SDM Surankote Mohd Rashid Kohli, AC Revenue Mohd Bashir Lone Tehsildar Surankote Shahid Iqbal and Naib Tehsildar Surankote Abdul Ghani from Revenue side, CEO Mushtaq Ahmad from Education whereas Commanding officer Romeo Force Kernel T.Allwin and Bhupinder Tyagi represented the case from Army side.
It was decided that a joint inspection shall be done on May 23, 2018 to demarcate the land as per the revenue record to settle the discrepancies in records of Revenue and army authorities so that the issue on quantum Land between Education and Army authorities is resolved.
Pertinently the entry path to GHHS Surankote, Shamshan Ghat, a shrine and graveyard passes through land under possession of defence forces.
The meeting also discussed to provide independent entry in consultation with Army authorities. It was further given out in the meeting that Security concerns raised from Army side shall also be taken into account during joint inspection.
