Deputy CM kick-starts up-gradation work of roads in Gandhi Nagar

JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta said that the government is working under a well-knit strategy to ensure overall development of the state.
Kavinder Gupta said this during his tour to Gandhi Nagar and its adjoining areas to launch various development works. He laid foundation stone for development works to be executed through his constituency Development Fund (CDF), here today.
The works included up-gradation of roads from Nanak Nagar to Sanjay Nagar, link road to Dudadhari temple Shastri Nagar, link road via Nanak Nagar to Main road Shastri Nagar. The up-gradation works is being executed by Public Works (R&B) Department at an estimated cost of Rs 2.50 Crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister said that present government has started a new phase of development in the state especially in under developed areas. He said that number of road macadamization and up-gradation works have been taken up with special thrust on the use of quality material.
Highlighting the achievements of present dispensation in PWD,PHE and other sectors, Kavinder Gupta apprised that 480 KM road length has been upgraded, 250 transformers and 11000 new electric poles have been installed in Gandhi Nagar constituency in the past three years besides more projects are in pipeline.
He further said that a string of development projects including cable car project from Bahu Fort to Mahamaya Park have been initiated by the government to attract tourists in the state.
The people informed Deputy Chief Minister about their grievances and problems pertaining to up-gradation of power infrastructure, sanitation and extension of existing nallah in the area.
Responding to the demands put forth by the locals regarding various development issues in the area, the Deputy Chief Minister assured that all their genuine demands would be looked into on priority and directed the concerned officials to take all necessary measures to address their issues at the earliest.
The Deputy CM was accompanied by engineers of PWD (R&B) and senior officers of concerned department.
