Rifle snatched outside KU: No place in Kashmir safe, says Omar
Srinagar, May 16: Reacting to rifle snatching incident outside Kashmir University (KU) in the summer capital, Srinagar on Wednesday, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said it doesn’t look like any place in the valley was safe any longer.
“They are even snatching rifles outside Kashmir university now. It doesn’t look like any place in Kashmir is safe any longer,” Mr Abdullah, who is the working president of National Conference (NC), wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
Unidentified persons overpowered a policeman posted at Rumi Gate of KU and decamped with his service rifle on Wednesday afternoon.
Security forces have been rushed and a search operation has been launched to nab the accused and recover the weapon.
