2 get life term in murder case

Maharashtra, Apr 26: District and Sessions Court judge Nazera Shaikh on Wednesday sentenced a woman and her paramour to life imprisonment for murdering her husband by strangulating in 2014 at Belura village in district.

The court also slapped fine of Rs 2,000 on each of them.

According to prosecution, the accused Asha Tukaram Panchal (34) had love affair with one Balasaheb Vaidhya (40) which was always objected by her husband and victim Tukaram Panchal.

Asha and Balasaheb together conspired to kill Tukaram whom they saw him as a hurdle in their love affair.

On faithful day of May 23, 2014, both of them strangulated Tukaram when he was asleep and enacted drama by admitting him to a hospital.

However, autopsy of the body revealed that Tukaram was strangulated. Rural Police registered a murder case against Asha and Balasaheb and submitted chargesheet in the court.

During the hearing, Assistant Public Prosecutor Milind Wagirkar produced 23 witnesses before the trial court, including the son of victim Yuvraj who revealed that Balasaheb always visited his house when his father was not present in house.

The court upheld his witness and sentenced the duo to life imprisonment with a fine of Rs 2,000 on each under various sections of IPC.
