On IGP Rath’s complaint, NPP’s Office Secy booked

Complaint against IGP also lodged, no FIR

JAMMU: The Gandhi Nagar Police today booked Office Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir National Panters Party (JKNPP) namely Rashpal Singh for obstructing public servant in performing his duties.

“Following a formal complaint in this regard from none other but by the Inspector General of Police, Traffic, Basant Rath himself, and the police took action against state office bearer of political party, police sources said.

Sharing details police sources said, “The incident took place at the office of the JKNPP at Gandhi Nagar.” “One Rashpal Singh – JKNPP office bearer got engaged in verbal brawl with the IGP Basant Rath when former ordered his subordinate to seize the Scooter of Singh parked on road just in front of the party office,” they said, adding that following which the top traffic cop lodged a complaint in this regard at concerned police station alleging for obstructing public servant in performing his duties.

Meanwhile, Rashpal Singh, who happens to be the Computer Operator in JKNPP, alleged he was assaulted by IGP Basant Rath when he was parking his two wheeler bearing registration number 9192/ JK14E in the premises of his working office at Gandhi Nagar today.
He further has alleged that he was heckled, abused, kicked and hit on the face multiple times without any fault by the IGP who seemed have gone berserk.

He alleged that the IGP used unparliamentarily language and even hurled filthy abuses upon him in public view. He further maintained that he had got his medical examination conducted and lodged complaint with the Police Station Gandhi Nagar.

Meanwhile police sources said, “A formal complained has been received in this regard however, an FIR in this regard is yet to be lodged by the Police.”

Earlier in similar incident on February 15, the Inspector General Police (traffic) Jammu, Basant Rath, has seized a car of an IPS officer’s son after the latter almost allegedly banged his vehicle into his and both sides has filed complaint at same police station- Police station Gandhi Nagar .
