2 terrorists onboard vehicle escape, driver doc detained

SRINAGAR: A doctor was detained for questioning after two terrorists who had boarded his vehicle managed to escape in Mir Bazar area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district on Saturday evening.

Police officials said that a joint team of army, SOG and CRPF had laid a naka at Mir Bazar. They stopped a car bearing registration number JKO3E 7572 and apprehended a person and during searches of the vehicle, police claimed to have recovered one AK-47 with two magazines and one pistol with one magazine.

A police officer said that the person turned out to be a doctor and further questioning was underway. He identified the doctor as Dr Aijaz Rasool son of Ghulam Rasool of Khrewan, Malpora, Kulgam.

The official added that the doctor during the questioning said that he was stopped by two unknown persons for the lift and he has no information who they were.

Reportedly some terrorists had boarded the doctor's vehicle and seeing the naka party, escaped from the spot. The terrorists had boarded the doctor's vehicle at Al Stop Mir bazar.

A police spokesman in a statement issued here said that at a naka point at Al stop in Mir bazaar the naka party Intercepted a vehicle which was searched.

During search one 9 mm pistol with one magazine and one AK 47 with two magazines were recovered from the vehicle, he said.

The Driver of the vehicle has been taken into custody. Police have started the investigation into the matter, he added.
