Girl forced to marry youth; commits suicide

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Apr 20 : Rural Kannad police have registered a case against a man and mother for abetting to an 18-year-old girl to commit suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her residence, police said on Friday.

The girl, a resident of Vadner village in Kannad taluka of district, commited suicide after she was continuously forced for marriage by the youth.

According to the rural police, the incident took place on Wednesday and police registered cases against the youth and his mother yesterday.

The victim had been staying with her parents and the accused youth, Ramanand Rathod, was in love with her and asking her to marry with him. When she ignored his demands, accused's mother Manjula Rathod started pestering her for marriage.

Fed up with this, when she was alone in her house she commited suicide, police said.
