Mobile internet service remains snapped in Jammu

Jammu, Apr 18: The mobile internet service continued to remain snapped on Wednesday in three districts of Jammu region in the wake of an alleged sacrilegious act, here on the city outskirts.

''After an alleged sacrilegious act was reported in Bishnah area on city outskirts on Tuesday morning, the mobile internet service was suspended,'' an official here told TNN.

He said the people of village Sarore near Urban Farm in Bishnah informed the police about the incident, triggering the protests.

''Hundreds of people assembled at the site and staged demonstration seeking action against the culprits, which led to tension in the area,'' said the official.

He said the district administration has ordered immediate suspension of internet on mobiles, as preventive measure in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts.

''We are verifying the matter to ascertain the facts,'' said the official, adding that the protestors also blocked the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway.
