Heroin over Rs 6 cr seized, Rajasthan-based man held

Mumbai, Apr 16: In one of the biggest drugs haul, Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) seized around four kg of heroin valued at Rs 6.15 crore from a Rajasthan-based man who was nabbed in Bandra.
According to ANC sources, it is the highest catch in last two years, earlier a big catch was made in October last year and two persons who also hailed from Rajasthan, was nabbed by ANC officials.
In the fresh case, the accused has been identified as Mangilal Kajodmal Meghwal, he hails from Kota district in Rajasthan. But accused Meghwal is a habitual offender and did come to Mumbai to deliver the consignment. Around five to six time he visited the city and delivered the contraband.
This time accused Meghwal has come via train with the heroin but he was nabbed as he came out from the station, he is just the delivery boy while the kingpin of this racket is the one who asked him to supply the drugs in Rajasthan.
He was asked to deliver the contraband to South Mumbai-based drug suppliers but before that he was caught, ANC sources said.
During the investigation it has come out that he was going to supply the drugs to a Nigerian national who is very active in this business and these people have set up den in South Mumbai. After his arrest the big syndicate of drugs mafia is likely to break, sources added.
DCP ANC Shivdeep Lande said, ''The arrested accused is not new in this activities, he is booked under relevant Section of NDPS act like 8(c) and 21 (c), he was produced before the court and sent to police custody till April 18, we are going to send a team to Rajasthan and will arrest more people from South Mumbai who were going to take delivery of consignment, it is a big catch from when I had taken the charge of DCP-ANC.''
