CM condemns rape and murder of Asifa in J&K

Amaravati Apr 16: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu condemned the rape and murder of eight-year-old girl in Jammu and Kashmir and rape of a woman in Uttar Pradesh.

The Chief Minister in a statement here on Sunday night expressed anguish over the heinous crimes.

He described the brutal rape and murder of a eight-year old girl Asifa in J and K as ''barbaric'' and ''inhuman''.

Mr Naidu said that the culprits should be punished firmly, whoever they are. Despite Nirbaya Act was enacted, heinous offence against women continue to take place, he lamented and underlined the need of taking stringent steps to curb such heinous crimes.

Meanwhile, APCC President N Raghuveera Reddy condemned the rape and murder of Asifa in J&K and demanded early justice to her family.

In a statement here on Monday, Mr.Reddy said that the Congress party is organizing state-wide programmes protesting the brutal rape and murder of the girl.

He said that he would attend the candlelight rally, to be organized by DCC in Kurnool on April 17 condemning the murder of the girl.
