Tourism opportunities positive in Tripura: Swapan Bhatacharjee

Udaipur(Tripura), Mar 29 : Tripura, a state of North-East, where opportunities of tourism are huge and could become a source of economic development of the state, said Swapan Kumar Bhatacharjee.

Bhattacharjee is one of the most successful and popular journalists of Tripura and awarded “Friends of Liberation War Honour” by the Government of Bangladesh for his contribution in the Liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971.

Tripura is surrounded by the neighbouring country of Bangladesh on its south, west and north. The relation between Bangladesh and Tripura has been good and it is the chance to develop the state through tourism,he observed

According to official record the length of international border of the state Tripura with Bangladesh is about 856 km (i.e. about 84 percent of its total border), while it has 53 km border with Assam and 109 km border with Mizoram. Forest area is over 60 per cent of its land use statistics and predominant.

Swapan Kumar Bhatacharjee said Tripura contributed more in the time of liberation war of Bangladesh. There are many places in the state where soldiers took training in 1971. The state government of Tripura needs to identify those places. The places can be turned into places of tourism. If it is possible to develop tourism in Tripura, the state would be able to attract the people of Bangladesh.
