A man rescued the one year old cub from Chinhan near Indo-Myanmar border recently, official sources informed here today.
The healthy bear cub, fondly called “Ollo” by the villagers, was fed and cared by Mr Yangwok Hodong for last two months. The Khonsa DFO Bitem Darang appreciated Yangwok for protecting and conserving wildlife.
As desired by the villagers 'Ollo' was successfully translocated to Mini Zoo, Miao on March 20 and was handed over to zoo authority for better upkeep.
The Himalayan Black bear have now become endangered and are rarely found in the jungles of Tirap District in particular, Arunachal Pradesh and Northeast India as whole. The reason behind non-availability of Himalayan black bear was due to hunting and killing.
