Nitish Kumar condoles the death of noted poet Kedarnath Singh

Patna, Mar 20 : Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today condoled the death of noted litterateur and popular poet Kedarnath Singh.

Mr Kumar in his condolence message said Kedarnath Singh had carved a niche for himself as a distinguished poet and was honoured with Jnanpith Award in 2013 for his immense contributions in the field of literature. He said that Singh was also honoured with several national and international awards in his illustrious literary career.

Chief Minister said that Kedar Ji had a deep relationship with Bihar and was also chairman of Rajbhasha award selection committee in the state. He said his style of writing was unique expressing complexities of life in a simple language. He said as a poet he expressed ground realities through poems by grasping various facets of life very well. He said that Singh's death caused an irreparable loss to the field of literature.

Mr Kumar prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and adequate strength to his family members and admirers to withstand the loss.

As it is, popular litterateur Singh died at All India Institute of Medical Science in New Delhi last night following his protracted illness.
