Jammu, Mar 20 : Protest continued in Nowshera town of Rajouri district while Jammu-Poonch highway was blocked by the agitators over demand of appointing Additional Deputy Commissioner, on Tuesday.

Hundreds of people from Nowshera staged protest and blocked the road to press government for appointing separate ADC for Nowshera town.

The residents of Nowshera, Sunderbani and Kalakote have been demanding separate ADCs after the government appointed ADC for Kotranka tehsil.

The agitators demanded that either separate ADCs should be appointed or district status by clubbing all the four tehsils must be announced.

Meanwhile on Friday, "Jammu Chalo" march from Nowshera was also foiled by the police.

However, the protest over ADC demand almost continued for the past more than one month.

"Nowshera residents have staged sit in and have blocked the highway," police here said.

They said that so far, the protest is peaceful.

Meanwhile, BJP MLA Nowshera Ravinder Raina had slammed the government for appointing ADC exclusively for Kotranka, ignoring other areas.

The government has ordered appointment of ADC on rotational basis for two tehsils each but the exercise was outrightly rejected by the protestors.
