Pak repatriates Ind Army porter after 8 months

JAMMU: An army porter who had gone missing in August last year from border district of Rajouri was on Saturday handed over to Indian authorities by Pakistan army during a flag meeting at Chakan da Bagh crossing in the district of Jammu region.Official sources said that the army porter Mohammad Safeer Khan son of Mohammad Kadir, a resident of Pathana Peer village in Mendhar Poonch was working with army's 2 SIKHLI Regiment in neighbouring border district of Rajouri. He had gone missing on August 13 last year from the unit.
Safeer's family later approached the concerned police station and filed a missing report.
The police subsequently registered a case under FIR (No 436/2017) under section 364, 343, 109 RPC against the local army and BSF units located at Keri sector along the border.
The case against the forces was filed following his mother's apprehension that he might have been abducted by the troops he worked with, they said.
"Today after a gap of eight months Pakistani army handed over the porter to Indian army in a flag ceremony meeting at Chakan da Bagh crossing in Poonch in presence of a team of doctors and magistrate," official sources said.
