Cop escapes bid on life in south Kashmir
Srinagar, Mar 17 : A senior police officer escaped an attempt on his life when militants fired upon his vehicle in south Kashmir district of Shopian on Saturday, official sources said.
They said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Shopian, was on his way to Behibagh to attend a function of Army when militants ambushed his bullet proof vehicle at Hajipora on Shopian-Kulgam road. However, the officer and his guards had a narrow escape as the bullets could not penetrate the heavy metal of the vehicle.
A massive search operation was launched by the security forces in the area.
