Departments asked to furnish KAS vacancies

JAMMU : Asserting that their non-serious approach is obstructing the process, the state government on Thursday asked the Administrative Secretaries of as many as 9 departments to furnish the details, it had sought earlier so as to referring their respective vacancies which form part of the KAS cadre at its Junior Scale, to Public Service Commission.

The government had in January this year notified to the departments to furnish within a weeks' time, the details, clearly indicating the number of vacancies in 17 services that have accrued as on January 1, so as these could be referred to Public Service Commission for being filled up through Combined Competitive Examination under direct recruitment quota of the departmental feeding services.

These services included J&K Cooperative (Gazetted) Service, J&K Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (Gazetted) Service, J&K Employment (Gazetted) Service, J&K Excise and Taxation (Gazetted) Service, J&K Hospitality, Protocol and Agencies (Gazetted) Service, J&K Handlooms (Gazetted) Service, J&K Handicraft (Gazetted) Service, J&K Industries and Commerce (Gazetted) Service-Functional Managers,and Project Managers-, J&K Information (Gazetted) Service, J&K Labour (Gazetted) Service, J&K Rural Development (Gazetted) Service, J&K Revenue (Gazetted) Service, J&K Social Welfare (Gazetted) Service, J&K Secretariat (Gazetted) Service, J&K Stationery and Office Supplies (G) Service, J&K Tourism (Gazetted) Service and J&K Transport (Gazetted) Service.

However, the information was furnished by eight departments only, even after two months post the deadline which included Finance Department, Revenue Department, Food, CS&CA, Information Department, Cooperative Department, ARI & Trainings Department and Hospitality and Protocol Department and Tourism Department.

“In order to refer the vacancies, under direct recruitment quota of the departmental feeding services, as will be available on 01.01.2018, to the J&K Public Service Commission timely, it is once again impressed upon the concerned Administrative Secretaries to furnish the details, sought vide communication No.

GAD(Ser)/Genl/l37/2016 dated 09.01.2018, expeditiously,” the official communication read.
