After 28 yrs gap "Navreh Fest" to promote Kashmiri cuisine, culture: JKTDC MD

Jammu, Mar 15 : To promote and bring Kashmiri cuisine and culture to this winter capital of the state, Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation is going to organise a two-day Navreh Festival here from Friday.

Vice Chairman JKTDC, Rafi Ahmed Mir on Thursday morning here told reporters that JKTDC is keen to promote culture and regional diversity of Jammu and Kashmir within the state as well as outside the State.

Meanwhile Managing Director JKTDC, Sarmad Hafeez said that the two day festival is being organized by JKTDC to bring the taste of Kashmiri Pandit cuisine and culture to Jammu
.
"The Festival will start on March 16 and will conclude on March 17," he said adding that it has been an endeavor of the corporation to promote and present the culture and cuisines of the state to people of other regions, states.

“We are organizing the “NAVREH 2018” after a long span of 28 years to promote this festival and to introduce the local populace of Jammu region to this cuisine and culture," he said.

He said that the Corporation is keen to promote tourism industry in the state by conducting ethnic food festivals from time to time.

"The essence of conducting these food festivals is to attract all especially young generation to know about our cultural ethos as well as richness in variety of cuisine in J&K State," said Mr Hafeez.

He added that the management also desired to organize a Kashmiri Pandit Food Festival at Srinagar on the occasion of Mata Kheer Bhawani Mela in the May-June and Ladakhi Food Festival also.
