Telangana police's help sought to identify militant killed in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 15 : Jammu and Kashmir police has sought help from Telangana police to identify a militant who was killed in an encounter with security forces along with two other ultras in Anantnag.

Militant outfit ''Ansar Ghazwatul Hind'' (AGH) has claimed that one of the three militants killed in the encounter was a resident of Hyderabad. The outfit identified the slain militant as Mohammad Taufeeq, alias Sultan Zabul Al Hindi alias Zarr Al Hindi, who has joined the group in 2017.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Anantnag in a letter to Director General of Police (DGP), Telangana sought help in identifying the slain militant. He said that an encounter took place between security forces and militants at Hakoora, Anantnag in which three militants were killed. Illegal arms and ammunition was also seized.

The SSP further wrote that it has been circulated in Social Media that one of the three militants is from Hyderabad. The militant was identified as Mohammad Taufeeq alias Sultan Zabul Al Hind alias Abu Zarr Hind who had come to valley in 2017 from Hyderabad, probably Khamam.

As such, it is requested that matter may be verified and necessary details shared with this office at the earliest please, the SSP said in the letter.

Three militants, two of them identified as Eisa Fazili, a resident of Soura in Srinagar outskirts and Syed Owais Shafi, resident of Kokernag, were killed in an encounter at Hakoora, Anantnag, on March 12 morning.

AGH surfaced in the valley in 2017 when three local militants, Zahid Ahmad Bhat, resident of Nowdal Tral, Muhammad Ishaq Bhat, resident of Batagund Tral and Muhammad Ashraf Dar, resident of Baghi Trich Pulwama, were killed at Gulab Bagh, Tral in August. The slain militants were initially affiliated to Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) but then joined AGH, headed by Zakir Musa.
