Lokayukta Justice Vishwanath Shetty discharged from Hospital

Bengaluru, Mar 14 : Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Vishwanath Shetty, who was admitted to a private hospital after being stabbed in his chambers by a miscreant on March 7, was discharged on Thursday.

Doctors at multi-speciality Malya Hospital, who attended him, have advised one month rest.

During the treatment, he underwent surgery and was moved to general ward yesterday after he was kept under close watch in the ICU unit for more than four days.

Declining to recall the incident after he was discharged, Justice Shetty however thanked the Hospital authorities and Doctors for the best treatement given to him during his stay and all those people who showered love on him.

Justice Shetty was attacked by furniture dealer Tejraj Sharma. He stabbed him at his chamber multiple times and on hearing the cry for help the staff rushed to his rescue and immediately shifted him to hospital. Police personel gave four bottles of blood to the wonded Justice Shetty.

Police arrested Sharma immediately after the incident and he has been remanded to Judicial custody. He attacked the Lokayukta disgruntled over the Lokayukta officers closed the cases of corruption filed him against government officials for corruption, due to lack of evidence.

Confessing to his crime, Sharma has stated that he was planning to attack the Lokayukta since last one month since his complaint against 18 government officials levelling corruption charges was rejected. He has stated that he was denied tender for supplying furnutures to Government offices which he was doing since years despite allegedly giving bribe to the officers.

CCB Police who had taken statement from Justice Shetty are investigating the case.
