Karvan-e-Aman bus leave to cross over to PoK
Srinagar, Mar 12 : The Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) left here on Monday to cross over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) at Uri in north Kashmir, official sources said.
The bus left Bemina in Srinagar this morning for Kaman Post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC in Uri sector, sources told UNI. The bus has since reached Trade Facilitation Centre (TFC) at Uri, where more passengers will board it before leaving for Kaman post, they said, adding that the exact number of people travelling in the weekly peace bus will be known in the afternoon.
Similarly, the PoK residents arriving here in the weekly peace bus will be known in the afternoon when it will reach the Kaman post.
The cross LoC bus has helped thousands of residents, separated in 1947 due to partition, to meet each other since the facility was introduced on April 7, 2005 after India and Pakistan agreed to allow travel of state subjects from both sides on “ Travel Permits” instead of International Passport. However, it was also agreed that the people will be allowed to travel only after intelligence agencies from both the countries will clear their names.
So far, only state subjects from both the countries are allowed to travel in the bus.
