Srinagar, Mar 11: Ahead of prediction of rain and snow under the influence of a fresh Western Disturbance (WD) from Monday onwards, people enjoyed summer-like weather due to sunshine in Kashmir valley.

A Met department spokesperson told UNI that weather will remain dry during the next 24 hours in the state. However, he said a fresh WD, which originated from Arabian sea and is approaching the region though Afghanistan and Pakistan, will hit the state on Monday.
Under the influence of the WD, he said rain or snow could occur at isolated places in the valley on Monday, which could result in dip in the maximum temperature. He said there could be widespread rain or snow in Kashmir valley and scattered and isolated rain or snow in Jammu and Ladakh respectively during the subsequent three days from Monday.
After witnessing improvement of a degree from Saturday in the night temperature, people woke up to a sunny Sunday morning in the summer capital, Srinagar. However, as the day progressed, sun played hide and seek in the evening, resulting in dip in the maximum temperature. On Saturday, the maximum temperature recorded in Srinagar was 5 degree above normal. Meanwhile, against 2.6 degree recorded on Saturday, the night temperature in Srinagar was 3.5 degree, which is still slightly below normal.
He said skies will be mainly clear with haze during the next 24 hours in Srinagar, where maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 18 degree and 3 degree, respectively.
“The skies will be partly cloudy during the next 24 hours in Leh, where maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 12 degree and minus 5 degree, respectively,” he said.
At winter capital, Jammu, the sky would be mainly clear with haze. The maximum and minimum temperatures will likely to hover around 29 degrees and 13 degrees respectively during the next 24 hours in the winter capital of the state.
The weather is pleasant at world famous ski resort of Gulmarg, where tourists and adventure lovers are out on ski slopes enjoying various snow activities on a bright sunny Sunday. “It is a bright sunny day in Gulmarg and tourists are having a time of their life,” a hotelier told UNI over the phone.
