6 shops gutted at Lakkar Bazar

Shimla, Feb 20 : Devastating fire gutted down six shops near Police post Lakkar Bazar here.
The inferno broke out late on Monday, doused after five hours and two fire fighters sustained injuries in the mishap.

CFO JC Sharma told TNN that seven fire engines from Mall Road, Chhota Shimla and Boileauganj pressed into service.

Deputy Commissisoner, Shimla Amit Kashyap also rushed to the spot to look after the fire combat operation.

Sub Divisional Fire Officer Dharm Chand Sharma and Fire man Rajesh Kumar sustained burn injuries during the action.

The massive inferno gutted six shops and its properties worth around Rs 20 lakhs.

Rana STD, Office of advocate H P Singh, Sammi audio-video studio, Capital Medical Store, outlet of HP fine Arts and Embassy Bakery are ashed in the fire while eight to ten shops in the line saved after dousing down the inferno.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur also visited the place this morning and assured maximum relief to the victims . Education Minister Suresh Bharwaj was also visited the spot.

The district administration would provide Rs 10,000 as immediate relief to the affected shop owners as per the Himachal Pradesh Climatic Relief Manual
