Budget session of Goa Assembly begins, Governor addresses House

Panaji, Feb 19 : The budget session of Goa Legislative Assembly began with customary address to the House by Goa Governor Mridula Sinha on Monday.
However, the session which was to last for close to a month was curtailed to a month in view of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar's health.
Before the beginning of the Assembly, Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs meet at the assembly complex and decided to make Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) leader and Transport Minister Sudin Dhavalikar leader of the House in the abscence of the Chief Minister who is admitted in Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai.
The BJP leaders after holding the meeting announced that the budget would not be read out by the finance minister but only tabled in the House.
The address by the Governor was brief in which she mentioned traffic sentinel scheme of Goa Police, conducting of FIFA World Cup, government schemes like Ladli Laxmi and Griha Aadhar.
