Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Feb 17 : Maharashtra Industries Minister Subhash Desai has expressed concern over nationalised banks not responding to promote small scale industries.

Addressing a function at the National SC-ST Hub, organised here on Friday, Mr Desai said there were so many schemes to promote small scale industries, but the nationlised banks are not properly responding.

They will not run away like Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi, he added.

Mr Desai further said that Kirloskar started with small businesses and today, his brand is famous in the entire world.

''So, you should not think that we are small entrepreneurs,'' the Minister added.

The SC/ST Centre has started here, and they should take advantage of it. Only holding a degree in hand is not enough, skill is important, he said, adding that youngsters should come forward.

The state government has adopted the women's industry policy, according to which the contribution of the fairer sex to the industry is nine per cent and efforts are being made to make it 20 per cent, he said.

The state government is working to promote cluster development in the state. In this, there is a cluster of printing clusters in Paithani of Aurangabad, Ihowa in Osmanabad and Nanded.

To take the industry forward, Maharashtra government has made the country's first policy on GST and added that the government has created an independent women policy in the field of industry, he added.
