Pregnant woman rescued by IAF in Ladakh

Srinagar, Feb 17 : 'Siachen Pioneers', the helicopter unit of Indian Air Force in a swift action rescued a pregnant woman from a very remote village in Ladakh region on Saturday, a Defence ministry Spokesman said.

According to Col Rajesh Kalia, the Army received a message that 35-year-old Stanzin Laton, resident of a very remote village Kurgiak, at Shinkun-la pass, was suffering from eyesight loss and dysphagia, a condition which causes difficulty in swallowing.

The Air Force unit undertook an evacuation mission in the area, which was experiencing intense cold wave conditions.

The crew successfully located the village successfully and picked up the three-month pregnant woman
