SC verdict on Cauvery: 'Disappointed' TN CM welcomes constitution of CRA, CWMB

Coimbatore, Feb 17 : Tamil Nadu K PalaniswamChief Minister Edappadi i on Saturday said that though he was disappointed with the Supreme Court judgement on Cauvery issue, however, he welcomed the court's order to constitute the Cauvery Regulatory Authority (CRA) and Cauvery Water Management Board (CWMB).

Talking to newspersons at the Airport here, the Chief Minister said he was disappointed with the Apex Court verdict, reducing the water share to the state and will consult legal experts on the same.

Mr Palaniswami said the court's decision on fixing the time frame to roll out a definite programme to set up Cauvery Water Management Board was the victory for his AIADMK government.

The Chief Minister further welcomed the court's observation on viewing inter-state rivers as national resources, and upholding the validity of pre-Independence pacts signed in 1892 and 1924.

The court has directed Karnataka to release water every month for the next 15 years, as per the award of the tribunal, he said
