Kishtwar Police Launches Crackdown on Bikers; 05 FIRs Registered, Over 30 Bikes Seized, 6 Arrested

Jammu, Feb 13 : The Kishtwar police yesterday has launched a heavy crackdown on the motor vehicle violators especially the bikers making stunts in and around the town, riding bikes rashly and negligently and avoiding crash helmets. The police has registered multiple FIRs in this regard and has seized over 30 bikes. The police has arrested a number of persons in this connection.

The police recieved specific public complaints during various public meetings that the youth in and around the town misuse the bikes by carrying stunts on the roads, driving rashly and negligently and therefore endanger the lives of elderly persons, children and women. Moreover there were complaints that many youngesters ride bikes without driving liscences and without the proper papers of the bikes with them.

The Kishtwar Police acting on these complaints laid various nakas in the town and has arrested six persons, seized over 30 bikes and has challaned a large number of bikes.
The police in this connection has registered case FIR No. 28/2018 u/s 279/336 RPC against Masarat Bashir S/O Bashir Ahmed R/O Lyne Kishtwar, FIR No. 30/2018 u/s 279/336 rpc against Arun Singh S/O Ramesh Singh R/O Dool FIR No. 31/3018 u/s 279/336 RPC against Ghulam Mujtaba S/O Bashir Ahmed R/O Nagseni Kishtwar, FIR No. 32/2018 u/s 279/336 RPC against Chander Shekhar S/O Mohan Lal R/O Sohol Padder
FIR No. 27/2018 u/s 279/336 RPC against Aqib Javid S/O Javid Iqbal R/O Poohi Kishtwar.

The arrests and seizures were made by the SHO police station Kishtwar Insp Sameer Jillani and Dy SP Headquarters Nihar Ranjan under the supervision and on the directions of the District Superintendent of Poilce Abrar Chowdhary.

The District Superintendent of Police Kishtwar Abrar Chowdhary while divulging details said the police has warned the violating bikers on many ocassions through public meetings, by social media and at police check points but they donot appear to reform themselves and failed to observe the law of the land. Their lunatics like behaviour while riding bikes in the town has made the life of pedestrains, elderly people, women and children miserable. The bikers' unruly behaviour is the cause of accidents in many cases, said the SSP.
He said that police has resolved to take the unruly bikers to task and it shall do all possible actions to make them behave including the frequent registeration of FIRs, seizure of the bikes, arrests of the bikers and cancellation of liscences and registration.
The District Superintendent of Police Kishtwar Abrar Chowdhary has impressed upon the parents to advice their children and youth to behave while riding bikes because in case of rampant violations police shall be constraint to register FIRs and make arrests as it has done in the last couple of days and that will ruin their career.
