Over 500 leading travel agents to participate in TAAI convention

Srinagar, Feb 13 : In the run up to showcase Kashmir as an international tourist destination, a three-day Convention of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), in which over 500 leading travel agents will participate, will be held in Srinagar after a gap of 30 years.

Director Tourism Kashmir Mahmood A Shah said that the 64th Convention of TAAI will be held in Srinagar from March 27 to March 30, 2018.

Mr Shah, while reviewing the arrangements for the Convention, urged the TAAI J&K Chapter members to make all the necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the event.

TAAI –JK Chapter Chairman Zahoor Qari besides its office bearers and state members attended the meeting to chalk out the plans for Convention.

The Director Tourism Kashmir said that more than 500 travel agents from across India have confirmed their participation for the Convention which will give major fillip to the tourism sector.

Mr Shah urged the TAAI JK Chapter to form separate committees to ensure every arrangement is made for the Convention.He said holding of TAAI convention in Srinagar will send a positive signal across the globe about Kashmir.

“TAAI members are leading travel agents in India who can market our state in a big way. We will ensure that TAAI convention is held successfully and the members leave Kashmir with beautiful memories,” said the Director Tourism Kashmir.

Department of tourism is also organising pre and post convention tours for the participants of the Convention during which they will be taken to different parts of the city and the premier resorts like Pahalgam and Gulmarg.

Local travel agents, hoteliers and houseboat owners have appreciated the move and pledged their support for the Convention.

TAAI holds its conventions outside country and it is after many years that the body is holding its convention in India and chose Kashmir to the event.

Earlier, TAAI Conventions were held in Abu Dhabi, UAE in 2016, Bali, Indonesia in 2015, Bengaluru, India in 2013, Istanbul, Turkey in 2012, Phuket, Thailand in 2010, Dubai, UAE in 2009 and London, UK in 2007.
