Work underway on 47 bridges, 82 road projects in Rajouri

Jammu, Jan 20 : Minister for Works (R&B), Mr Naeem Akhtar informed the House that under Special Bridge Programme, 47 bridges involving a cost of Rs 81.15 crore are under execution in district Rajouri for which Rs.3.11 crore have been released and Rs.2.19 crore spent till ending 12/2017.

Replying to a question by Ch. Qamar Hussain, the Minister further informed that 82 road projects costing Rs 287.28 crore have been taken up in Rajouri constituency, under Phase I-X of PMGSY. “It involves the construction of 506 kms of road length to strengthen the road network in the area, of which 194 kms stand completed. Other projects are at different stages of completion, “ he added.

The Minister further informed that 11 road projects at an estimated cost of Rs 39.21 crore with 65 km road length have also been sanctioned by the Union Ministry of Rural Development and work on these is in progress.

Giving details of other on-going projects in the constituency, the Minister said that Saaj-Bakhaan road was taken up under district plan at a cost of Rs 1.20 crore, against which an amount Rs. 7.60 lakh has been incurred by ending, 2017. Similarly, the link road Thandikassi to Chapper Dhara has been taken up at a cost of Rs. 70.25 lakh under BADP, against which Rs. 10 lakh stands incurred by ending 12/2017.

Similarly, Pathan Mohra-Mubarak Pura road was taken up for execution under State Sector at a cost of Rs 1.54 crore, against which an expenditure to the tune of Rs 80.28 lakh stands incurred. Likewise, Mubarakpura-Sohana road has been sanctioned under PMGSY at a cost of Rs 2 crore, against which an amount of Rs. 1.13 crore stands incurred. For Dassal-Dassal Seeran road, taken up under State Sector for Rs. 1.94 crore, an amount of Rs 58 lakh stand incurred and the major portion of the road has been made functional as fair weather road.

The up-gradation of important Rajouri-Thanamandi-Surankote road involving 53.015 kms length has been proposed for improvement to double lane standards by Project Sampark. The tendering process of survey and preparation of DPR for the project will be completed by August, 2018, said the Minister.

Replying to a clubbed Question by Abid Hussain Ansari, the Minister informed that 38.10 kms of road length has been macadamized in Zadibal constituency under various programmes involving an expenditure of Rs. 1.66 crore till ending 11/2017. He informed that tenders were floated for upper and lower Gulshan Bagh road, but due to fall in the temperature, the macadamizing could not be taken up. He said the remaining portion of the road in Zadibal constituency will be taken up during next financial year.
