Belandur Lake: Army, Fire fighters succeed in extinguishing fire

Bengaluru, Jan 19 : Army Personnel and Fire Fighters have succeeded in bringing under control the fire at Belandur lake which was threatening environment since Friday noon.

Major General NS Rajpurohit, Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor, ASC College and Centre who was supervising the operation told newsmen on Saturday that "we have succeeded in controlling the spread of fire and extinguishing it but the smoke emanating from the lake was causing environment pollution.
Efforts were continuing to solve the issue at the earliest.

More than 5000 Army personnel and about 100 Fire Fighters are using modern technology, including portable extinguishers to totally extinguish the fire and stop spread of smoke.

He said that an army person had a snake bite during the operation, but he is out of danger and no casualty has been reported.
