JAMMU: Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said that India and Pakistan's National Security Advisors (NSAs) should initiate talks to maintain ceasefire on borders.
"It is a matter of grave concern that civilians are being targeted, when there is supposed to have a ceasefire as a Confidence Building Measure (CBM) between India and Pak, but the situation is more worrisome," said Omar outside State Assembly and added, "Only yesterday and today BSF soldiers, laid down their lives in the course of duty." "I hope our NSA can pick up phone and talk to the NSA in Pak and put an end to this Cease Fire Violations at IB and LoC," he said.
Abdullah questioned secret talks between the two NSAs and said "what are these talks about, if two countries cannot maintain ceasefire".
It is high time, Dr Jitendra Singh said, these self- righteous leaders should stop playing convenient politics of appeasement.
This is the same bunch of leaders, he alleged, who post a tweet or give a TV byte even on subjects not even remotely connected with them, but they neither have the courage nor conviction to post a single Tweet of condolence when security persons get killed in their own constituency.
Omar further said that the situation is so tensed that across the border and on patches of Line of Control (LoC) there is regular breakdown of the ceasefire.
