JAMMU: In what could be termed as heights of non-professionalism, the state police booked two revenues officers in a falsely framed fraud case without requisite inquiry only to be left red-faced later, followed by writing for the departmental action against the two officers. In what is certainly not the first incident of callous approach by the police, a Naib Tehsildar and Patwari were booked under section 420, 34 RPC in case registered against FIR No 13/2018.
Two officers, namely Amit Updhay, Naib Tehsildar Bishnah and Mohammad Salim Javid, Patwari were booked on the complaint of one Raj Kumar son of Jogi Dutt of village Bhatiyari, who pleaded that both the officials had allotted a piece of land situated at Kujwani to one Kuldeep Kumar, illegally.
"The land originally belonged to me," said the complainant Raj Kumar.
However, during the course of investigation, police realized their fault as it was found that the revenue officials were falsely framed as there was no mention of any sort
of allotment in the revenue records, prompting the police to seek departmental action, instead.
"We have written to the revenue department for departmental action against the revenue officials," said a police officer.
Meanwhile, when contacted by The News Now, the higher revenue officer said that police should investigate the complaint before lodging FIR against the revenue officials.
He said that it was nothing but non professionalism on the part of police.
