Youth injured in 'security force' firing in south Kashmir dies

Srinagar, Jan 16 : A youth, who was injured in alleged security force firing last month, after massive protests erupted following the killing of two local militants in an encounter in south Kashmir district of Shopian, died on Tuesday, official sources said.
Life was crippled in Chittragam and adjoining villages after the youth identified as Mohammad Ayub Bhat died.
Bhat was injured critically when security forces opened fire to disperse demonstrators, protesting against the killing of two militants on December 19 last year at Batmuran Wanpora in Shopian. Bhat was admitted to hospital and he died today. With this a total of three civilians, including a woman, were killed in the security force firing.
Shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the roads in Chittragam and adjoining village. Additional security forces have been rushed to the area to maintain law and order.
