Army Day Celebrated With Veterans Of Doda
Doda, Jan 15: The Army Day was celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm by 10 Rastriya Rifle's Force at Doda on January here.
Army Day is celebrated every year on January 15 to mark the taking over of command of Indian Army by Field Marshal, K M Cariappa as the first Commander-in Chief of the Indian Army. Theme of organising the event to welfare ex-serviceman in and around their respective area to revere them for their contribution while safe guarding the nation.
On the occasion, A large number of ex-serviceman (Veterans) from different villages attend the event. Commanding Officer (CO) welcomed and addressed the guests and highlighted various schemes and institutions including Directorate Of Indian Army Veteran, Army Welfare Placement Node and Directorate Of Ex-serviceman Welfare. He welcomed them to come forward with any issues related to Pension, Medical benefits and documentation.
The aim of organising the event was to interact with the esteemed veterans of armed force and to inform them about various welfare schemes and pension related issues. Representatives board were also incorporated to address various grieviances of the Ex-serviceman.
Speaking on behalf of Veterans , Hony Capt Shankar Singh thanked the Doda Battalion for the initiative. Homages were also paid to martyrs by the august gathering.
The veterans expressed their happiness towards the unit for its efforts and requested to organise similar events in future also.
At the end, Commanding Officer also thanked them for their contribution in service of nation and as responsible citizens.
