4.5 magnitude quake hits J&K, 3rd in 5 days

SRINAGAR: A medium intensity earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter Scale hit the state in the wee hours on Monday.
The National Seismology Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that earthquake, with an epicenter in Ladakh near the India-China border and at a depth of 33 km, hit the state at around 0428 hrs. However, officials said that there was no report of loss of life or property.
In the last less than a week, Ladakh region, besides on Monday, has witnessed two earthquakes. A moderate intensity earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale occurred at around 1613 hrs on December 9.
On December 7, moderate intensity earthquake measuring 5.4 hit Ladakh.
