SRINAGAR: Asserting that government's approval was not must to spread the knowledge in the society, Minister for Education, Syed Altaf Bukhari today covertly gives his nod to private tuitions and said that government teachers can run their coaching centres but after duty hours.
It apparently has brought smiles to many faces as an uncertainty was looming upon the government teachers' indulgence in private tuitions following some court directions over some Public Interest Litigations (PILs) by some social activists.
In a latest development the Education minister today said, "I don't think the government has any issue with those teachers who want to run coaching centres after their duty hours are over."
"Why anyone would objects to the spread of knowledge?" the Minister said here in Srinagar while adding the state government has not banned the practice of private coaching by the government teachers off the duty hours.
The minister said, "Rather, it would be insane to tell the teachers to get the approval for spreading the light of the knowledge. All the government teachers need to do is to just keep the government informed."
In January this year, the State Education Department, on the directions of Apex Court had banned the practice of private coaching by the government teachers. Later, modifying the order, it had allowed them to run the private coaching centres by properly informing the government.
