JAMMU: Known for creating storms by his remarks now and then, soon after Karnataka's controversy - stating 'Secular fabric of the country was being eroded', the National Conference president and former Chief Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah suddenly adopted a new look by becoming a die-hard nationalist today by enchanting 'Sare Jahan Se Acha, Hindustan Hamara' in a style for which he is known among masses.
Like a 'pied piper', Farooq can enthrall crowd by singing 'Mere Ram ………Kab Aayoge' and even can dance with Ranveer Singh to steal the show or even can surprise the wedding revelers by wearing dancing shoes and today he enthralled the crowd by singing national song.
Addressing gathering at Abhinav Theatre here on Monday on the occasion of annual day of a private school, Dr Farooq not only sung National Anthem with kids, but also concluded his around 5:40 minutes speech with singing two sentences of famous patriotic song of Mohammad Iqbal, "Sare Jahan Se Acha Hindustan Hamara, hum Bhulbule Hain Iske, ………………………………Mazhab Nahi, Sikhata, Aapas Mein Bair Rakhna, Hindi hain Hum, Watan Hai, Hindustan Hamara."
Remained in controversy since last over a month after giving controversial statement and terming PoK part of Pakistan and also advocating talks with Pakistan, Farooq today after returning from Karnatka, said, "I have seen the future of India in these small students and I assure you that future of country will be secular India whatever they can do, they cannot disturb the communal harmony of India."
"Nationalism is a seed, if once you insert inside a child, none can dare to take out from him or her till end," said NC leader Farooq.
Like religious preacher, Farooq in new role surprised all when he said, "Lord Rama not only belongs to Hindus, but to the entire world and similarly Allah not belongs to Muslims, but to everyone on earth."
Without naming any particular party of organisation, Farooq in his atypical tone condemned the communal forces for dividing society on religious lines. "However, it is unfortunate that some people in our society want to divide society by separating Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs, he added.
"Even, I studied in a Christian school, but they never told me to leave Islam and follow Christianity. My religion inculcated love for the country. On seeing sprit of nationalism in them, these children will keep the nation united and will make strong India," he said.
Dr Farooq Abdullah also taunted those who stop speaking mother tongues in Jammu and Kashmir, "People have stopped speaking Dogri in Jammu and Kashmiri in Kashmir, which is not good. I visited Karnatka yesterday and saw the locals always speaking in their local languages, which always connects us with our culture and traditions."
