Altaf Bukhari grieved over Bagh-e-Mehtab fire incident

Srinagar, Dec 11: Minister for Education Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari has expressed heartfelt grief over the tragic fire incident at Check-e-Methan (Bagh-e-Mehtab), yesterday in which five residential structures were gutted.
Bukhari directed the district administration Srinagar to provide all necessary assistance to the affected families so that they can resurrect themselves, adding the process may be expedited in view of the prevailing winter season.

The minister asked the district administration to ensure distribution of adequate ex-gratia compensation to the victims of this tragedy besides providing them all necessary relief and rehabilitation items through Red Cross at an earliest.
He also asked the municipal authorities to facilitate immediate issuance of permissions for reconstruction of the residential houses so that the fire-hit families of Chek-e-Methan are able to cope up with the winter vagaries.
On the directions of Bukhari, a delegation from his private office also visited the fire victims ensuring them all possible help in their rehabilitation.

Meanwhile, the minister visited two Government Higher Secondary Schools in Amira Kadal Constituency and took the firsthand appraisal of the ongoing construction works.
On his visit to Government Higher Secondary School Jawahar Nagar, the minister took review of the additional accommodation which is being constructed under World Bank Project and other construction works being executed under Tameer. The additional accommodation includes classroom block, Library Block, Laboratory Block, Auditorium and waiting hall.
Taking the tour of premises, Altaf Bukhari directed the concerned officials to remove the electric wires that pass through the middle of school so as to avoid any untoward incident. He also directed them to construct additional toilets for the students and observed that there is need to develop the school on modern lines so that better facilities are provided to the students.
Later, the minister visited Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Rajbagh where he reviewed the ongoing construction works and also approved further development works for the school. He also directed the officials to construct a canteen for the students.
