Kashmir | Three militants killed in encounter in Handwara

Srinagar: Three militants were killed in an overnight encounter in north Kashmir, the police said on Monday morning.
“In Unisoo Handwara, all the three terrorists, apparently Pakistanis, have been neutralised by the joint team of J&K Police, RR &CRPF. It has been raining whole night & boys were out there in the cold,” tweeted Jammu-Kashmir police chief SP Vaid.

Sources added that search operations were underway and soon the identities of the militants will be revealed.

The operation comes on the heels of security forces claiming that they have killed 200 insurgents in the Kashmir Valley this year.

The year saw a series of effective counter-insurgency operations resulting in the death of several top militant commanders such as Abu Dujana of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT, Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar’s nephew Tallah Rashid, JeM’s Mehmood Bhai, LeT’s Waseem Shah and Hizbul Mujahedeen’s Sabzar Ahmad Bhat.
