5 Baraatis killed in road mishap

JAMMU: At least five persons were killed while seventeen others were injured in a tragic road mishap in Udhampur district of Jammu region on Sunday night.
As per the initial reports coming in, a mini Bus carrying marriage party was on its way from Mantalai to Kud when it skidded off the road and rolled down into the deep gorge near Kharuda, in Chenani area of Udhampur.
“Twenty two persons boarding in the vehicle was carrying the special guests (Baratees) for marriage ceremony,” a Police officer said.
All the twenty two persons received injuries and were immediately evacuated by the rescue team to nearby hospital where five persons succumbed to injuries, the officer said.
