JAMMU: In the last 11 months this year, various Administrative Departments in the state have cleared more than 800 cases of compassionate appointments (SRO-43), thus reducing the pendency of such cases to zero as on date. There were 800 cases of SRO-43 pending disposal in various Administrative Departments of the state in January this year, while around 1110 cases were cleared during the year 2015 and 2016.
"As on date, the pendency is zero. We're only receiving one or two cases on periodic basis and disposing them off within the shortest possible time in order to avoid undue inconvenience to those seeking appointments on compassionate grounds," Commissioner Secretary, GAD, Khurshid Ahmed Shah told The News Now.
The Governor, N N Vohra was very serious about the inconvenience meted out to those seeking appointments under the SRO-43, as while running the affairs of the State in the year 2015, he had directed the then Chief Secretary and all the Administrative Secretaries for the expeditious disposal of such cases.
According to sources, in order to reduce the pendency of SRO-43 cases, the General Administration Department (GAD) had issued instructions to all the Administrative Secretaries to periodically review the pending cases, draw a check list prescribing the formalities and documents which are required for the processing and finalization of SRO-43 cases.
"All the departments were asked to process the cases strictly as per the check list," sources said.
They said to ensure the early settlement of SRO-43 cases, the Administrative Secretaries were asked to list the issue as an agenda item for the monthly meeting of the Committee of Secretaries. "The Administrative Secretaries were asked to submit a monthly return of SRO-43 cases received, processed and disposed of during a particular month," sources added.
