Ganderbal boy tops reserve list of CSE'16

Srinagar: A candidate from Jammu and Kashmir Syed Hamid Ali Shah Bukhari has made it to the merit list of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Service Exam conducted in 2016.

The UPSC on Friday released a Consolidated Reserve List in order of merit in which Kashmiri candidate Syed Hamid Ali Shah Bukhari figures at the number two position.
According to UPSC, results of the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2016 were declared on 31.05.2017 recommending 1099 candidates in order of merit for appointment to IAS, IFS, IPS and Central Services Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ against 1209 vacancies.
However, the Commission, in accordance with the Rule 16 (4) & (5) of the Civil Services Examination Rules, was also maintaining a Consolidated Reserve List of 109 candidates.
“As sought by the Department of Personnel & Training, the Commission has now recommended 109 candidates which include 87 General, 19 OBC, 01 SC and 02 ST, to fill up the remaining posts based on the Civil Services Examination, 2016. Particulars of these candidates are included herewith,” said UPSC in the order.
Talking to Rising Kashmir, Syed Hamid Ali Shah Bukhari, who hails from Waliwar area of Lar Ganderbal, dedicated his success to his parents, extended family members and to his grandfather, whom he termed as his source of inspiration.
“This was my third attempt in UPSC. I have made it. Hope I will get my choice of service. I want to join Indian Foreign Service (IFS),” he said.
Having done his schooling from Delhi Public School (DPS) and later degree in management from Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Bukhari is currently pursuing masters in International Studies from JNU.
