Speaker visits interiors of Bahu Fort

JAMMU: Speaker, Legislative Assembly and MLA Gandhi Nagar Kavinder Gupta today conducted an extensive visit to the interiors of Bahu Fort area, ward no 47, 48 and reviewed the status of public amenities available to the public.
During the visit, the Speaker visited various localities including Kacha Talab, Pakka Talab, Masha Mohalla, Gujjar Basti, Central mohalla, Gorakh Nagar, Sheikh Nagar, Press Morh and adjoining areas. He was accompanied by senior officers and officials of PHE, PWD, JMC, allied departments.
Taking note of necessary interventions required to upgrade the basic infrastructure in the locality including constructions of lanes, drains, roads, drinking water and other concerned departments.
Speaking to the people, Kavinder Gupta informed the locals that detailed project reports are being prepared for execution of all these works.
He said that a carefully calculated plan is being chalked out for phase by phase public infrastructure development of the area. The execution of these projects will be meticulously carried out in a phased and time-bound manner, he added.
Kavinder said that during the first phase of works, drainage across localities would be constructed, upgraded to meet the requirements of the local populace.
During this phase, he said extensive sanitation measures will be taken to remove blockages, blockades in the drainage network and Phase-II will comprise of blacktopping, tiling in accordance with the feasibility study reports.
For this, he directed the concerned agencies to conduct a detailed feasibility report in accordance with the topography, other factors to ensure durability, longevity of the works being undertaken.
He further said that these works will be executed on a war footing with special attention on the quality of works.
Taking note of poor cleanliness observed in these localities, the Speaker directed JMC to maintain adequate sanitation, regular lifting of garbage, removal of solid waste from drainages.
He also urged JMC, PWD, PHE, other departments to regularly interact with locals, local representatives to gauge the on ground performance of their respective departments and to keep channels of communication open for public.
