SRINAGAR: Less than a fortnight after bullet riddled body of Territorial Army jawan Irfan Ahmad Dar was found in south Kashmir district of Shopian, who was abducted and killed by terrorists, Police on Wednesday claimed to have cracked the case by arresting one person and identifying three others.
The gruesome murder of Sepoy Irfan Dar, who was working with 175 Territorial Army, has been worked out and one of the co-conspirators identified as Muzamil, a resident of Shirmal, has been arrested by Shopian Police, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police South Kashmir Range (SKR) S P Pani said.
“Three others, including Saddam Paddar, who were involved in the crime, have been identified,” added Pani.
A police spokesman said the investigation conducted so far has found that terrorists Saddam Padder and Bilal Mohand, both residents of Heff, Touseef, a resident of Gadbugh, and a newly-recruited unidentified terrorist along with arrested accused Muzamil hatched a criminal conspiracy to kill Dar.
In pursuance of the criminal conspiracy, the spokesman said, on November 24, Muzamil went to the native village of Irfan and took him to Wuthmula where the above mentioned terrorists were already present in a nearby orchard.
“They came out from the orchard and fired at Dar, resulting in instant death of the victim on the spot. After executing killing the soldier, all of them fled from the spot,” he said.
He said police, on the basis of evidence available, could unearth the entire chain of conspiracy and nabbed accused Muzamil.
“A look out for the other three terrorists is on and necessary legal proceedings are in progress to complete the investigation of the instant case,” he added.
Bullet-riddled body of the 23-year-old Territorial Army soldier, who was abducted by terrorists on November 24, was recovered from an orchard at Wothmula Nad area of Keegam in Shopian on November 25.
Dar was posted in the border town of Gurez in Bandipora district and was on vacations till November 26.
This was not the first time when terrorists kidnapped and killed security force and police personnel on vacation.
In May this year, terrorists abducted and later killed Lt Umar Fayaz in Shopian district, followed by killing on-leave state police cop Shabir Ahmed Dar in June at Bogund village of Kulgam. Around three months later, the terror struck again. Rameez Ahmad Parrey, a soldier in Border Security Force, had come on leave a few days earlier than the ill-fated day in September. On the night of 27th, terrorists stormed into his house and tried to abduct him. When he resisted, they killed him and injured three of his family members too, at Hajin area of North Kashmir's Bandipora district.
